1982年毕业于西南师范大学（现西南大学），1990年在美国德克萨斯大学获博士学位。现任北京大学生命科学学院副院长。中国植物学会常务理事，中国植物生理学会常务理事，中国中学生生物学委员会主任，西南大学淡水鱼类资源与生殖发育重点实验室学术委员会主任。2007年当选为中国科学院院士。长期从事藻类生物学研究，对蓝藻细胞分化和格式形成有系统研究，尤其对蓝藻异型胞分化中的信号转导和基因表达调控有深入研究。揭示了钙结合蛋白和钙离子信号在蓝藻细胞分化中起到的重要调控作用。对蓝藻藻胆体吸收光能在两个光系统间的分配与调节开展了系统研究，对揭示藻胆体吸收光能向光系统1传递的途径和调控方式有重要贡献。</div>

<span style="font-weight: 700;">赵进东</span>（1956.11~）出生于重庆，籍贯：江苏武进；藻类生物学家，研究员，博士生导师，致公党党员。

1982年 毕业于西南师范大学，同年考入中国科学院水生生物研究所，师从黎尚豪院士；</p>

1984年 公派留美学习；</p>

1990年 获美国德克萨斯大学博士学位；</p>

在美国获得博士学位、事业有成并取得专利后，念念不忘报效祖国，毅然放弃国外优越的工作条件及丰厚的待遇，携妻、女回国。回国后，不计条件和报酬，任劳任怨，全身心地投入教学科研工作，而且积极热心地接受组织交给的各项工作任务。兼任院研究生工作组组长，尽心尽责，曾捐款为院工会购买乒乓球台。1997年暑期，率团出国参加中学生生物奥林匹克，由于其精心组织、严格训练，中国团荣获三金一银。工作认真负责、待人诚恳、办事公正，有较强的组织能力和良好的群众基础，被任命为生命科学学院副院长。是北京大学生命科学学院植物生理学青年学术带头人和跨世纪科研骨干，也是归国工作的青年学者之一。</div>

专长是对植物生理特别是光合作用的研究。早在美国期间，在光合作用研究领域就取得突破性进展，应邀在国际学术会议上作报告10余次，SCI刊物先后收录其发表的论文20余篇，并获美国技术专利一项。回国后短短几年时间里，新开研究生、本科生 “植物生理学”、“光合作用’等三门课程，并主持多项重要科研项目，获得资助基金超过百万元。
<p style="margin: 0px 0px 12px; padding: 0px;">
1998年在蓝藻分化和发育与分子机理研究方面取得重大进展，其成果发表在的美国科学院院报（PNAS）上和ARCH．MICROBIO1上，受到国际同行的关注并应邀在国际会议上作学术报告。曾先后获得美国李氏奖金、青年科学家安泰奖、杰出青年基金奖、青年教师奖等奖项。在中、青年知识分子及海外留学生中有广泛的联系和一定的影响，是该校新归侨中的代表。1999年荣获全国归侨、侨眷先进个人称号。2007年，当选中国科学院院士。</p>
