大家好,我是厚学小编,在2017年2月18日的托福考试中取得了120分的成绩。这个成绩在中国,一年不超过3个人,2个还都是在美国从小学开始读书的北上广高中生。我曾考过三次托福,2012年112分,2015年118分,2017年120分。(这备考周期够长的)
今天聊一下,如何通过考试标准,反推我们要做的事情。
词汇
首先重要的就是词汇,80分背熟练一本托福单词足够,90分再往上,要背各个培训机构老师们自己整理的单词。身处培训届,我知道在中国,出版物特别廉价,高也不过50一本的单词书,所以出版物水平现在不会高,未来也不可能高。要让那些一小时动辄800,高达8000一小时的知名托福培训师们在书里把干货都讲完,真的太naive了,自己砸自己饭碗。
那我们如果不上课,怎么达到100+分数的词汇水平?我建议学生的方法是自己整理单词书,托福培训师们手里的资料不比你们多多少,主要还都是tpo,但是研究的时间,做的遍数比你们多。那你们要达到一样的研究程度,分数自然就上去了。
所以,我的建议就是直接做tpo,任何与tpo不相干的东西都是在浪费时间,并且学生要整理这些考了什么?怎么考?什么新概念、voa,统统都可以走开,这些都是在浪费学生的时间。在我的统计数据中,tpo难词仍然在新题中成批出现。东莞托福培训。
阅读
如果刚才一段看懂的同学,就知道接下来我要说的四项,你都不需要去看市面上那些浮躁的快餐材料。阅读难的是什么,就是读不懂。读不懂分成3个层次,词汇、长难句、篇章总结。过去几年翻遍了市面上所有题目叫“托福长难句”的书籍,没有一本托福阅读长难句是好好写的,所以别阅读书了,那怎么办,我希望是学生自己整理,tpo每篇文章做完了,自己看哪个句子长没读懂,做好分析,自己分析一遍,再找个英语好的同学帮助你分析,阅读能力自然提高。

更重要的是阅读中的句式,都适合写作,所以学生问我,写作句式,模板从哪儿来?我都是让他们去阅读里找,你真正读懂了,体会到这个句式的精妙之处,那自然可以模范。举个例子,
东莞托福培训,前面是原始的例子,后面是改编的写作模板,比如写作题目是,“marked by”比大家常用的“is”就好太多了,而“characterized by”比正常翻译的“the characteristic of a is b ”也要更简练。这样,写作书也不用了。
听力
无数次听学生和培训师说,学生听力差,从新概念、voa、bbc开始,那么我要反问,这些听力材料跟托福关系多大?里面的难词、难句、题材重复率多高?行业内从来都是提出一个观点,不需要任何教研支撑的,这在过去是好事,因为过去没材料,就拿一些重合率10~30%的材料补充一下,但是现在,谁敢说自己托福考前把tpo所有听力都做完,并且和原文逐字逐句校对过呢?所以做tpo听力足够。
听力怎么练?其实和阅读一样,长难句是学生的难点,听力也要练长难句,先模考练习,后听不懂的长难句反复练,行业内听力书普遍都是把强化班内容编辑成书,可以考虑购买一两本,了解里面的出题点、标志词等老师们整理的内容。
口语
口语回答要简洁有效,,一定要写下对应题目的文本,很多同学喜欢张口就来,这样子水平怎么提高?只是一直原地踏步而已。写下文本,这样子可以自己修改或者找人改,文本才能更流畅,更通顺,更地道;第二,是要注意语音语调,口语是人批改,人的耐心都是有限的,如果1分钟里,你的发音他听不懂,自然不会给。
我们在参加ets托福培训师培训的时候,会注意到大家在评分的时候,学生一开口,句话,基本上能奠定给他1分、3分还是5分的大框架,这些口音特点难纠正,需要学生反复录音,并且就其中的点进行纠正,书籍《美语发音的十三个秘诀》。这本美国亚马逊常年的畅销书给我的感觉,原来口语是这样练的。
口语素材,建议google或者yahoo搜索,比如,如果我们遇到这样的,

写作
如果认真看上面阅读部分长难句解析,模板句,用词提升应该有一些启发了。但是我一直认为,托福写作老师必须要有一些软件思维,因为托福写作是ets软件批改+人工批改的,这一点也从ets培训师中获得了验证。软件如何识别你文章写得好坏呢?肯定是词汇分析,句式分析,因为软件能做的就是这些,软件评分系统是死的。
所以学生要凑软件评分系统,我这次取得写作30分的文章,基本上能用sat和gre单词的,就不用简单词,能在一句话中加复杂从句多说一些细节的,就不用简单句分开来说,这样的写作就是在凑软件的评分系统。而且句式全部用上,句式的丰富性得分基本就是。
另外,相应的话题从哪里找材料,能翻墙用google,不能翻墙用yahoo,以写作为例,“some people like to study alone while other prefer to study in agroup. which one do you think is more effective? ”,这里题目意思是,一个人学,还是一群人学习。
我们利用yahoo,搜索“individual study,group study, pros and cons”关键词,可以找到这个http://home.nwciowa.edu/ttracy/studygroup.htm,这里就列举了优点缺点,已经很详细,不用多说了。就这样具体的素材和观点,还用得着任何写作书吗?

insummary, study groups tend to bring out the members' best as well as worststudy habits. it takes individual andcollective discipline to remain focused on the task at hand, to remaincommitted and helpful to one another, to insist that everyone shoulder his/herfair share, and to insist on excellence of achievement as the only acceptablestandard for continuing the study group.
